Dense, high-performance canvases

I build the grids people spend their day in. The data is wide, live, and typed, and every interaction still feels instant.

  • For iAnalyse I wrote a custom Angular pivot. Analysts could group on both axes and scroll through thousands of collapsible rows and dozens of columns at 60 FPS.
  • On Butlerapp Dashboard a fully backend-driven grid renders islands of widgets and form controls. Islands react to form control changes and adapt to a configurable, responsive layout.
  • TaylorDb needed a canvas datagrid built from scratch for its performance needs: a live grid of tens of thousands of rows, fed by GraphQL on WebSockets. Cells go beyond plain text and numbers: lists, avatars, checkboxes, chips, or files. Inline edits and interactions come with optimistic updates and global undo and redo.

Embeddable, modular UI

I ship UI that other sites and other products can drop in and build around.

  • The Butlerapp Booking Form is a suite of web components built to bring bookings into the Butlerapp Dashboard. It lives on more than two hundred customer websites and brings in thousands of bookings a month. Hosts can embed a booking form, a scheduling calendar, offer cards, offer accordions, an offer table, a cart, and user login widgets.
  • Webbee's internal products ship on react-native-molecules, a component kit I designed while leading TaylorDb.
  • json-schema-form takes the same idea into open source: describe validity and layout separately, and write a custom renderer only where the defaults fall short.

UI planning

I work out early what the interface has to compute on its own, so the product only promises what it can keep.

  • I designed the frontend architecture of TaylorDb to be future-proof: a ready-to-use plugin system lazy-loads plugins that are only known at runtime, so new capabilities ship without touching the core.
  • SchnellTestButler computed availability itself: two-minute slots, back to back, across fifteen-hour work days, with holidays, booked-out windows, and overlapping working hours all respected. At peak, 1,500 test centers used it. We also shipped a React Native check-in app, an early version of a ticketing product.

I own the frontend for two products: Butlerapp, a bookings manager and CRM, and TaylorDb, an AI app builder. Architecture, delivery, and the team that ships it.

  1. Butlerapp Booking Form

    React · TypeScript · Redux Toolkit Query · Embeddable widgets

    A React app that runs on 200+ host websites and carries the whole booking journey: offer discovery, a configurable booking flow, and booking management. It brings in thousands of euros in bookings every month.

    • Offer discovery widgets blend into any host site. CSS variables do most of the theming, so hosts match their brand without touching our code.
    • The same project runs inside Butlerapp Dashboard as a micro frontend, with staff-only logic gated behind the authenticated scope.

  2. Butlerapp Dashboard

    React Native · Expo · NativeBase · Widget systems

    The central hub for running Butlerapp: bookings, client communication, offers, discounts, payment methods, localisation, and more.

    • Migrated the class-based React dashboard to a hybrid React Native app on Expo and NativeBase, and used the move for a full UX overhaul.
    • Designed the view system. Operators save filters, sorting, and layout once and open them with one click instead of rebuilding them every morning.
    • Switched large tables to Autodesk BaseTable, reworked filters into ranked filter chips, and built the backend-driven grid: islands of widgets and form controls in a responsive layout the backend defines.
    • Set up GitHub Actions for CI/CD, so tests and deployments run automatically.

  3. SchnellTestButler

    React Native · Expo · NativeBase

    Butlerapp tailored to high-volume COVID testing: bookings, queue timing, and result handoff.

    • Built the availability engine in the frontend. Two-minute slots across 15-hour days, with holidays, booked-out windows, and overlapping shifts handled in the calendar itself.
    • Shipped a React Native field app with QR check-in and multi-account access to the App Store and Google Play. At peak it ran in 1,500 test centers across Germany.

  4. TaylorDb — AI App Builder

    An AI app builder: a no-code platform built in-house for rapid application development.

    • Led the frontend as TaylorDb grew from a smart database into an app builder, then an AI app builder.
    • Built the canvas from scratch: a live grid of tens of thousands of rows and 20+ typed columns, with inline editing, optimistic updates, and global undo/redo.
    • Designed the data layer for a product that streams everything over GraphQL on WebSockets: a loading layer and a subscription system that keep client state consistent as events race in.
    • Mentored the engineers on the team to senior-level independence and wrote the PRDs for react-native-molecules, now the internal design system.

Zycus builds a source-to-pay procurement platform. I led frontend across its product modules, moved two of them off legacy stacks, and ran a team of five frontend engineers.

  1. iAnalyse & CRMS

    Angular 8 · Highcharts

    • Led the frontend rewrite of CRMS and iAnalyse off separate PHP/jQuery and Java/jQuery stacks onto Angular 8, as Zycus standardized on one UX platform.
    • Took a COVID spend-analysis dashboard from a two-day hackathon POC to production in about a week. It compared a company's spend with industry peers so procurement teams could spot outliers fast.

Retail POS and multi-channel inventory for shops that sell online and offline.

  • Built the inventory management UI for shops selling across Shopify, Amazon, Flipkart, and their own stores, plus the B2B flow for bulk orders.
  • Wired QuickBooks and Tally onboarding into setup, so shop owners connected their accounting in one step.
  • Led the rebuild of key screens from Backbone.js to React: faster, and easier to maintain.

Services shop for corporate sites, e-commerce, and mobile apps. I opened its mobile product line and modernised how the team worked.

  • Built the company's first mobile apps in Ionic: the PayPointZ wallet and an e-auction app for a Dubai-based art house, opening a new stream of client revenue.
  • Shipped production sites and web apps from wireframes to delivery, built reusable storefront templates for Unlock Commerce.
  • Ran customer onboarding and training, and set goals for cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Introduced Git in place of VSS and streamlined the development workflow.
